Our Mission

Castlebay Lane Charter is a Gold Ribbon elementary school dedicated, through its curricular programs and educational opportunities, to educate, challenge, and inspire our students to reach their full potential. This is accomplished through our unique community based partnership.

Castlebay Lane VEX IQ Teams Places High at Recent Tournament

Castlebay Lane's VEX IQ Teams Placed 1st and 3rd at the recent VEX IQ tournament held at Holmes Middle School on December 8, 2018 in Team Work. There were more than 20 teams participating at the first major tournament of the year. Additionally, one of Castlebay Lane's team placed first in Judges Award. We look forward to an exciting VEX IQ season.

Castlebay Lane Hosts Astronomy Night

Castlebay Lane hosted Astronomy Night on November 16, 2018. Members of the Santa Clarita Astronomy Club brought 4 powerful telescopes. Attendees were able to see very vivid images of the Moon, Mars, and Saturn.

Moon Rocks Visit Castlebay Lane

Castlebay Lane was able to have Moon Rocks and Meteorites from NASA for two weeks in early October. Mr. Garringer had to attend special training at JPL to become Moon Rock and Meteorite certified to be able to request the materials from NASA. After two weeks the Moon Rocks and Meteorites had to be sent back to NASA.

Writing Night Parent Workshop

Do you think you can’t write? Do you want to know how to help your child become an effective writer? Come to the Writing Night Parent Workshop on Friday, November 2nd from 6 to 7:30 pm in the Library. Gold Ribbon Award

On Monday, April 2, State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson announced the 2018 California Distinguished Schools. Castlebay Lane Charter was one of seventeen LAUSD schools to receive the Gold Ribbon Award.

Rally in the Valley - Robotics Challenge and STEAM Expo

Castlebay Lane competed in 2018 Rally in the Valley held on May 5, 2018. The students were competitive in many areas including: SUMO, Follow-the-Line, Obstacle Course, and Team Talk.

Our students LOVED the "Blankets of Love Assembly" where they shared pet stories, reviewed how to properly take care of their pets, and participated in activities that stimulated compassion and empathy for homeless pets and animal shelters.

Castlebay Lane hosted its Engineering and Science Night on February 2, 2018. Students designed, engineered, and tested a variety of creations including: telephones, apple carriers, catapults, and lunar landers.

Lost & Found Deadline 2-21-18

Our LOST & FOUND Center has been temporarily relocated to the front of the school. Please check for any lost items, BEFORE February 21st, as the school plans to donate any unclaimed clothing, lunch boxes, and water bottles to the homeless shelter.
