We are pleased to host our first virtual orchestra concert.
Castlebay Lane is proud to recognize students who were Award Winners at the recent Virtual California Invention Convention. Twenty-fve schools and 150 students throughout California submitted their inventions virtually.
Castlebay Lane is proud to announce the students who participated in the virtual California Invention Convention. The video link is about a 4-minute presentation of their invention. Also, you can see who was invited to the invention convention conference and the merit award winners.
Over the last month, our 2nd through 5th grade classrooms held classroom spelling bees to determine the top 2 students that would compete in the grade level spelling bee. The top 2 students from each class then competed in the grade level spelling bee. Abigail Kim, the 1st place winner for 5th grade, will be competing in the local spelling bee on March 7th.
On February 1st, 2020 Castlebay Lane hosted its 2nd Annual VEX IQ tournament. There were 23 middle and elementary teams participating from throughout Southern CA.
On Monday, January 21st, Panda Express came to our school for the second year in a row to provide lunch for the entire campus. Students were given a choice of orange chicken and rice or chow mein and an egg roll.
On Tuesday evening, December 17th, the cast of students from "The Misadventures of King Arthur" performed for their families and friends.
On Friday, December 13th, the parents were delighted with a wonderful, festive winter concert performed by the students of TK/,Kindergarten, 3rd and 5th graders.
On Thursday, December 5th, several of our 3rd through 5th grade classes presented different ways to compost, make things out of recycled materials and present ideas on how to combat the effects of climate change.
Castlebay Lane Elementary recently hosted an Invention Convention workshop. The workshop allowed participants to gain a deeper understanding of the Invention Convention and the Invention / Engineering process. In the spring, Castlebay Lane plans to conduct an Invention Fair in which students will showcase their inventions.
On Tuesday, September 24th, Masato Gentle and Nicole Khachatourians were voted in as Student Council President and Vice President. Congratulations to the BOTH of you!
Mr. David Garringer, Assistant Principal at Castlebay Lane Charter Elementary recently presented at the National Science Teaching Association (NSTA) at the 2019 National STEM Forum and Expo in San Francisco on July 25, 2019.
